Gallegos, Maribel (Marriage – 10 April 1976)

A stagecoach drawn by a six-horse hitch driven by Gabby Schultz of Neillsville and owned by the groom’s parents was waiting to take Mr. and Mrs. Peter Paulson to the reception hall following their April 10 wedding in the Hill (N.M.) Baptist Church, located north of Las Cruces, N.M., the historic church was built in 1820.

The Rev. Lee Hobart officiated at the 2 p.m. ceremony for the former Maribel Gallegos, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Garcia of Las Cruces, and Peter Paulson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chap Paulson, now of Las Cruces and formerly of Neillsville.

The bride carried a basket of spring flowers to accent her gown of off-white Indian gauze.

Pumpkin orange Indian gauze fashioned the gowns of Charlotte Powey, honor attendant, and Mrs. Rosina Medina, bridesmaid. They also carried baskets filled with spring flowers.

Tom Wahl, Neillsville, served as bestman and William Curtiss, as groomsman.

Jenny Gallegos was the flower girl and Joseph Median was the ringbearer.

The bride’s mother was the organist.

The new Mrs. Paulson is a sophomore in animal husbandry at New Mexico State University. Her husband graduated from Neillsville High School and from Farriers College in Tulsa, Ok. He has his own horseshoeing business.

The newlyweds are living on a ranch north of Las Cruces.

A number of Neillsville and former Neillsville area people were among the following wedding guests: Jenny Gallegos, Las Cruces; Mrs. Grace Paulson, formerly of Neillsville and now of Walla Walla, Wa., and Mrs. Willard (Pat) Rhode, also of Walla Walla; Lester Chapman, formerly of Granton and now of Santa Rosa, Ca.; Howard Paulson, brother of the groom, Wisconsin Dells, and also Allan Schultz and Chomis Gohengan of Wisconsin Dells;

Mr. and Mrs. John Engelsman, Maywood, Il.; Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Voight, Madison; Mary Millren, Red Wing, Mn.; Dale Schultz, Gerrie Spiegel, Karen Gross, Mike Kuchenbecker, George Ouimette, Marlin Golomski, Tom Wahl and Randy Reineck, all of Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Paulson, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard (Judy) Traina and children and Mrs. Susan Dyer and children, all former Neillsville residents now living in Las Cruces.

A host of friends and neighbors also attended.
