Jackson, Julie R. (31 FEB 1927 – 3 JUN 2020)

Julie R. Jackson, 93, Loyal, formerly of Ocala, Florida., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, surrounded by her family, at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield. A private family funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m., on Friday, June 5, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal, with Rev. Leo Johnson officiating. Inurnment will take place in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at a later date.

Julie R. Kosicek was born on Feb. 13, 1927, at the family home in Joliet, Ill., to Antone F. Sr. and Josephine M. (nee Hocevar) Kosicek. She was raised and received her education in the Joliet area, where she graduated from high school. Julie met the love of her life, Robert G. Jackson, while she was employed at the Joliet Farm Bureau. They became engaged before he was deployed to serve in the Korean War. When he returned from the service, they were married on Jan. 15, 1955, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Joliet. While Bob attended veterinary school, Julie oversaw the boarding house where they resided. Upon Bob’s graduation, they moved to Lancaster. Julie lived her life’s purpose, living her faith and raising their four sons. Upon their retirement, they moved to
Ocala, Florida where they made new friendships. Julie enjoyed spending her days golfing, swimming, and playing cards. Always an “independent spirit,” she remained in Florida after Bob’s death on March 7, 2010. In 2018, Julie moved to Loyal to be closer to her family. Her love for her family was abundant and her favorite times were spent with them. She was always a feisty individual and willingly participated in many adventures. She relished her time in the kitchen and loved her culinary endeavors. Julie was known by many as a fabulous cook. She was a devout member of St. Clements Parish in Lancaster and Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ocala, Florida. She joined St. Anthony Parish when she moved to Loyal.

Julie is survived by three sons: Dr. Gregory R. (Peggy) Jackson of Loyal, David E. (Gladys) Jackson of Burlington, Vt., and Jeff M. (Ismenia) Jackson of East Greenwich, R.I.; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister-in-law: Doris Kosicek of Joliet, Ill.; one brother-in-law: Michael (Sylvia) Jackson of Virginia Beach, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Dr. Robert G. Jackson; one son: Dr. Mark W. Jackson; one brother: Antone Kosicek Jr.; and two sisters: Louise (Edward) Strle and Betty (Chuck) Host.
