Quicker, Roland F. (24 Marsh 1904 - 21 August 1981)

GRANTON -- Roland F., Quicker, 77, president of the Village of Granton for 12 years before retiring in the spring of 1969, died of an apparent heart attack Friday in the emergency room of St. Joseph's Hospital.

Services will be Tuesday at United Methodist Church, the Rev. William A. Noble officiating. Burial will be in Windfall Cemetery. Visitation will be at Gilbertson Funeral Home .

Mr. Quicker was born March 24, 1904 in the town of Lynn to Mr. and Mrs. James (Louise Steinbach) Quicker. He received his education in Maple Grove School there and later spent the winters in logging camps in Michigan and summers on the home farm.

He and the former Ora Montgomery were married May 4, 1926 in Granton. She died December 7, 1972. After their marriage the Quickers lived in Granton where he worked in the feed mill for Lloyd Spry for 17 years. For 29 years he delivered gasoline and fuel oil in the Granton area for Mobil Oil Co. He retired in 1969.

At the time of his death he still was a member of the Fire Department and also Granton Rotary Club. He also had served on the Village Board for 18 years,

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Fay) Opelt of Neillsville and Mrs. Richard (Romelle) Gillard, Auburn, Washington; one son, Ronald Quicker, Enumclaw, Washington; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Albert Quicker, San Diego, and Hubert Quicker, Neillsville; and two sisters, Mrs. Leah Wolf, Marshfield, Mrs. Irene Vanderwyst, Granton.

Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, a brother and a grandson.
