NEILLSVILLE -- Clark County authorities and volunteers are puzzled today as they were a week ago when a 71 year old woman was reported missing from the Clark County Health Care Center, Own, where she was a resident.

Mrs. Minnie H. Anderson was last seen around 4 p.m. August 22, walking east on old Highway 29, near the center. When she failed to return a search began and has continued throughout the week.

Sheriff David Bertz said the woman had been a resident the past 13 years at the center. When last seen she was wearing a pink sweater and a blue print dress, and was carrying a purse.

She is five feet, one inch tall, and weighs about 142 pounds.

During the early morning hours, Sunday, search hounds were used but to no avail. During the forenoon Sunday, deputies searched the area nearby and an airplane also was used to observe the area. A plane was dispatched to the area again late Sunday afternoon.

Divers were used early in the week to search the river nearby after an apple, such as were served at the center, was found near the water's edge.

On occasions during the past week more than 50 deputies and volunteers, including several from the Health Care Center, searched the area.

It was learned that she has resided for several years in the town of Seif and a check was made of that area Thursday and Friday.

Sheriff Bertz asks that anyone who would have information as to the whereabouts of the woman, should contact his office immediately. He said all efforts to find her are being made.

***Note: Her body would be discovered by hunters 22 November 1981)
