Carlson, Viola Ann (23 August 1908 - 15 September 1981)

ABBOTSFORD -- Mrs. Viola A. Carlson, 73, of 207 Elm St. died Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Services will be Friday at First Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford. The Rev. Robert L. Everhard will officiate and burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Unity. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford.

The former Viola Ann Schwantes was born August 23, 1908 in the town of Brighton, Marathon County. She attended college in Stevens Point and Eau Claire. She taught school in Amherst Junction and the town of Spencer. Since 1965 she had been a special education teacher for the handicapped in the Colby School District.

She married Oscar W. Carlson June 15, 1935 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity. They farmed in the town of Brighton and resided in Abbotsford the past eight years.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and its Star Circle.

Survivors are her husband; three sons, David of Abbotsford, Robert of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Douglas of Minneapolis; two sisters, Mrs. Arden (Erna) Douglas of Milwaukee and Mrs. Leo (Evelyn) Klein of Port Richey, Florida; two brothers, Arthur and Herbert Schwantes both of Spencer and three grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two sisters.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Marshfield Medical Foundation for cancer research.
