AMVETS Park (Hatfield – 2010)

Algin and Frances Rierson owned the Arbutus Motel in Hatfield for a number of years. After Algin passed away Frances donated a plot of land to AMVETS Post #5494 for the creation of a veterans memorial park and to honor area firefighters. Recently AMVETS members John, Bill and Tom Teeples, Joe Backaus and Red Staffon placed a memorial marker plaque in the ground near the flag pole recognizing the donation of the land for an AMVETS Park in Hatfield at the corner of CTH J and K. The plaque reads, “In 1997 Mrs. Frances Rierson donated this plot of land to AMVETS Post #5494 for use as a park to honor area veterans and firefighters.”
