Hands Foundation Asking for Donations (Winter Items - 2012)

The Hands Foundation and ST. Katherine’s have recently began sending quilts to Minneapolis, Minnesota for homeless veterans after learning some startling facts. According to the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans, in Minneapolis alone, there are over 4,000 homeless veterans. “Our family is ashamed that this is even possible,” said Scott Marrier of the Hands Foundation. “It’s time to do something.”

Currently, the Hands Foundation is looking for help, especially the donation of winter items in new or good condition, and funds. “We are working with a Marine veteran who gets these items directly to the people who need them,” Marrier stated. “The urgency of winter is upon us. I can only imagine the harshness of winter living on the streets.”

The Hands Foundation is looking for donations in stocking hats, scarves, gloves, sleeping bags, back-packs, warm socks, or any other winter items.

D & J Farm and Home in Thorp, Midway Chevrolet, Creekside Convenience, and O-W Sports in Owen are currently hosting drop boxes for these items. “On behalf of the many men and women who served our country, we thank you for your generosity,” Marrier added.
