Brierton-Synder, Dortha M. (25 August 1918 - 17 October 1981)

MERRILLAN -- Mrs. Albert (Dortha M.) Brierton, 63, died Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Services will be Tuesday at United Church of Christ, Neillsville, with the Rev. Gary L. Clark officiating, Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Merrillan. Friends may call at the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville.

Mrs. Brierton was born August 25, 1918 in Canton, Illinois to William and Emma (Mumemtiler) Williams and received her education there. She worked as a beautician in Cannon and after her marriage to Carl F. Snyder on May 9, 1948, she operated a Watertown Shoe Store. She later moved to Sparta and operated a shoe store there.

After her husband's death in 1963, she returned to Canton until 1965 when she moved to Hatfield.

Her second marriage to Albert D. Brierton took place March 14, 1981 in Neillsville.

She was a member of United Church of Christ, Neillsville.

Survivors include her husband; one step-son, David Brierton of Tallahassee, Florida; a sister, Mrs. Albert (Anna) Turl of Merrillan; four brothers, Charles and Joseph Williams, both of Canton, Ellis Williams of Neillsville and Guy Williams of Gains, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Besides her first husband, she was predeceased by one brother.

**Note: Obituary refers to her as Dorotha but her tombstone and Wisconsin Death Index says Dortha. She is buried as Dortha Snyder.
