Kaszubowski, Sophie A. (14 JAN 1919 – 9 JUL 2020)

Sophie A. Kaszubowski, age 101, of Stanley, WI, formerly of Thorp, WI, peacefully passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2020, at The Homeplace in Stanley. Private graveside services were held at St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Cemetery in Lublin, WI.

Sophie Ann Depa was born on January 14, 1919, in the Town of Thorp, rural Clark County, the daughter of Mark and Louise (Wincek) Depa. She was raised on the family farm and received her education at the Mitterhofer School. Sophie moved to Chicago as a young lady, and worked as a nanny for families in the Chicago area. She was united in marriage to Stanley A. Kaszubowski on November 30, 1940, in Chicago, IL. They resided in Chicago until 1947, when they moved back to the Town of Taft and took over the family farm. They farmed until 1974, sold the farm, and moved to Eau Claire. In 1994, they moved to the city of Thorp and resided there until Stanley's death on November 8, 2013. After Stanley's death, Sophie moved to Traditions Assisted Living in Thorp, where she resided until moving to The Homeplace, in Dorchester, WI in 2015. She then moved to The Homeplace in Stanley, in 2017, and resided there until her death.

She was member of St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church and its Ladies Aide.

Sophie had many interests, but especially enjoyed gardening, cooking Polish foods, baking, doing needlepoint, painting ceramics, and above all, spending time with her family.

She is survived by her three children: Delores Kliminski of Okite, SC, Larry (Rhonda) Kaszubowski of Chippewa Falls, and Sandra Hutchens of Rice Lake; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; two sisters: Tillie Filipiak and Vicki Placzek, both of Chicago, IL; sister-in-law, Irene Heinle of Sarasota, FL; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Sophie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley; two sons-in-law: George Kliminski and Jeffrey Hutchens; one sister, Jean Kula; and two brothers: Edward and Victor Depa.
