Peter Zagar was born in Sentjurska, Gora about a 2Vi hour walk from Kranj. This was a large town.

Mary Glovan was born in Ig, just south of Ljubljana. Tragedy came to her young life. At the age of six, horses killed her father. Five years later her mother died. At the age of eleven she was forced to make a living on her own. In 1914, at the age of sixteen, she came to America, settling in Ely, Minnesota.

Peter came to America once in 1909, returned and then came back in April 1912. He often talked of his last trip when their boat followed the Titanic that sank. Their boat picked up many survivors, but there was much fear in the hearts of the people that their boat would also sink because of overloading.

Peter settled in Ely, Minnesota. Peter and Mary were married in Fargo, North Dakota. For a brief period Peter was a street car conductor. Then they moved to Wilton, North Dakota where Peter worked in the mines and Mary worked in a hotel. Three children were born there: Anne, Pete and Mary.

Early in 1918 they came to their dream home in Willard. It consisted of forty acres of wooded land and a shack to live in.

They came with two railroad cars, one with furniture and the other contained four cows and a team of horses.

The family went to the Frank Auman home. After a few days they were able to move to their living quarters.

Four children were born in Willard: Irene, Frank, Elsie and Robert.

As the children grew they modernized their name to Zager. They all married in the surrounding area. They are as follows: Ann married Matt Merlak; Mary married Emil Mech; Peter and Frank married sisters, Ethel and Evelyn Ormond; Irene married Paul Oblack, Elsie married Edward Perko and Robert married Shirley Holt.

Mary and Peter Zager are deceased, as also are daughters Mary and Irene.
