Gates, Jeanne M. (8 January 1945 - January 2020)

Jeanne M. Gates, 75 of Stanley, died peacefully with her family by her side, in January 2020.

She was born on January 8, 1945 in San Jose, CA the daughter of the late Harry V and Kay (Moore) Gates. She grew up in California and graduated from San Jose State with a bachelor’s degree in science with a major in journalism and minor in Asian studies.

Jeanne had a busy career which includes: Marketing Director, Advertising Manager or Promotion Manager at a number of metropolitan newspapers (San Jose Mercury- News, San Jose CA; Evening and Sunday Bulletin, Philadelphia PA; Miami Herald Publishing Co., Miami FL; Palm Springs Desert Sun in CA and Detroit News, Detroit MI; Los Angeles Daily News, Woodland Hills, CA; was President/Owner of Spokane based WebsitesWest.Com which was a consulting company for small businesses and non-profits around the country providing marketing, advertising and public relations services, plus building, designing and hosting web sites; and was Director of Sales and Marketing for Northwest Best Direct Publications: Three full-color magazines: Spokane Coeur d’Alene Living city and lifestyles magazine for WA/ID, Inland Catalyst business- to-business magazine and Shopper’s Choice before moving to Wisconsin in 2006.

She continued being active in “retirement” being a Writer for weeklies along Highway 29, Volunteer SCORE business counselor, was an Alderman, Stanley City Council, was Public relations and advertising assignments for WebsitesWest.Com, Highway 29 Partnership Communities and Chippewa County Activities and Attractions guide (2011, 2012). Jeanne was also proud of her involvement with 1978-80 Florida Direct Marketing Assn., founding member and VP; 1980-81 National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Thru ‘90 Women in Communications, Inc. member, 2003-4 Board of Directors, Spokane Valley Senior Citizens Assn., WA, 2005-8 Corporate Sponsor, NAWBO Spokane WA Chapter and 2006-8 Chairperson, Stanley WI Revitalization Committee.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Morley of Stanley, her brother, Jack V Gates of Anaheim, CA and her niece and nephew, Suzanna Bratzler of Upland, CA and Richard Gates of Middleton, ID.

No formal services will take place. Plombon Funeral Service assisted the family.
