School opened in town Monday morning for another year’s work and with a
promising attendance. The high school, in charge of Principal Green and
Assistant Miss Paterson, had fifty-three enrolled Tuesday. Miss Damon’s
department, the grammar room, had twenty-eight enrolled. In the second primary
department, in charge of Miss Oelig, had forty-seven, and first primary, in
charge of Miss Bryan, had fifty enrolled. More are coming each day, and no doubt
will increase the enrollment considerably inside the next two weeks.
The school building has been improved by adding fire escapes as directed at the
last school meeting. The doors have also been changed to open outward, the
better to accommodate a rush out the doors in case of fire.
