Moore, Rev. Elton H.

Pastor preaches last sermon at church in Unity

The Rev. Elton H. Moore preached his last sermon Sunday morning at Trinity Lutheran Church, which he served the past seven years. Trinity is a congregation of the Lutheran Church in America.

Music was provided by Brett Siikarla, violinist, and Kathy Siikarla, pianist, both of Stevens Point. They dedicated the song, "May the Good Lord Bless and Keep You,: to the pastor and family.

At the service, Moore baptized David Allen Alexander Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. David Alexander Sr., Colby.

Of his ministry, the pastor said "Trinity congregation has a rich heritage of Christian witness in Unity for more than 80 years. It has been a unique privilege for me to be a part of this witness the past seven years.

During this span, the congregation had its 75th anniversary, built a new parsonage, reactivated the church orchestra, saw more active lay participation in worship and funeral services, and began using the new hymnal, "Lutheran Book of Worship."

The Moores will continue to live in Unity until summer. Mrs. Moore has been active as director of the handbell choir and as part-time organist.

According to the Rev. Harry Anderson, assistant to the bishop of LCA in Wisconsin, some possibilities to be considered by Trinity Lutheran for future pastoral services are 1.0 hiring a part-time pastor; 2.) sharing a pastor with a nearby church; and 3.) hiring a commuting pastor. These possibilities are especially significant in light of the upcoming merger of all LCA, ALC and AELC churches.
