Fritz, Walter A. (24 September 1886 - 20 March 1983)

OWEN -- Walter A. Fritz, 96, Route 1, Owen, died Sunday at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen.

Services will be Wednesday at the Maurina Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Larry, Gary, Lash and Eric Fritz, Gaylord Kaduce and Dave Smith. Masonic services will be held.

He was born September 24, 1886 in Benton, Pennsylvania. He attended Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Indiana, where he took a business administration course. He married Belle Roney June 24, 1909 in Swalddale, Iowa; she died May 28, 1976. He farmed in the Town of Hoard since 1912.

He was a member of the Owen Masonic Lodge; the Eau Claire Consistory; an honorary member of Van Huizen Fritz American Legion Post 123 of Owen; and a member of the Black River Rod and Gun Club. He served on the Owen School Board for 25 years and was on the A.S.C. Committee for the Hoard Township.

Surviving are three sons, Elton "Jack" Fritz and Lorraine "Boots" Fritz, both of Owen, and Allen Fritz of Milwaukee; one daughter, Mrs. Jens (Polly) Smith of Owen; 19 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Earl "Buster" Fritz in 1942; one daughter, Mrs. Eva Kaduce in march 1952, one brother and two sisters.
