After the Soo line acquires control directly of the Wisconsin Central, it is
said that work will be commenced to shorten the distance between Chicago and
Minneapolis by constructing a new line from Mukwonago, Wisconsin to Grand
Rapids, Wisconsin, and another from Spencer, Wisconsin to Owen, Wisconsin,
cutting off 168 miles.
