Jantsch, Joseph (24 August 1893 - 28 March 1983)

Word Has been received of the death of Joseph Jantsch, 89, a former Town of Holton resident. He died March 24, 1893 in the Town of Holton, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John (Mary Mueller) Jantsch. He received his education at the Bruckerville Elementary School and graduated from Colby High School in 1911. He attended teacher training schools in Superior, Oshkosh and Madison. He taught in a number of country schools and also at Unity High School and West Allis.

He married Dora Larsen in 1922; she died in 1973. He moved to Spokane in 1927, where he organized the Continuation High School for Slow Learners. It began in one room of the Lewis and Clark High School and later they moved into a building of their own. In 1976 it was renamed, "The Joseph Jantsch High School."

In 1981 he attended the Colby High School commencement, where he was honored as a member of the 1911 graduating class. He spent one year in France during World War I.

Surviving are three sons, Robert of San Diego, California, Norbert of Glendale, California and Joseph Jr. of Seattle; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Emma of Minneapolis, Rose of Seattle and Hattie of Watertown, Minnesota; and one brother, William of Dorchester.
