Leon G. "Leo" Staniec, Jr., 68, of Thorp, passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Oakbrook Health & Rehab in Thorp. A Celebration of Life will be held for Leo at a later date.

Leon Gary Staniec, Jr. was born on November 14, 1952 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley, the son of Leon Sr. and Clara M. (Markowski) Staniec. He was raised on the family farm and received his education in the Lublin area, graduating from Gilman High School in 1971. After completing his education, Leo farmed in the Town of Withee, rural Thorp, until his health declined. He moved to the City of Thorp and later was united in marriage to Linda L. Baker on August 5, 2000 in Stanley. After his marriage, Leo worked for Larry Slobodnik, at Bob's Corner Garage, and plowed snow during the winter months for many people.

He had many interests, but especially enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and playing softball in his younger years.

Leo is survived by his wife, Linda, of Thorp; his children: Tammy (Bill) Rice and Jeremy "Boz" (Angela) Staniec, both of Waupun; 2 grandchildren; 3 sisters: Sharon Staniec of Thorp, Shirley (Terry) Wright of Chippewa Falls, Sandy Brecht (Rich Rogus) of Greenwood; one brother: Michael Staniec of Thorp; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Julie Staniec; his brother-in-law, David Brecht; and his mother-in-law, Sarah Ruth Baker.
