LOYAL -- Chuck Gregorich and Lori Hebert were honored as Loyal High School male
and female athletes of the years last night at Loyal's annual sports awards
banquet.
The athlete of the awards, based on the athlete's character, leadership,
participation in several sports and scholastic ability, highlighted the evening.
The banquet also features other award presentations and a speech by Don
Herrmann, the assistant director of WIAA.
Marty Schwan was awarded the David Hoeser Football Memorial trophy. The award is
presented to a senior football player for outstanding contribution to the team.
Anne Selz and Lori Hebert received awards for being placed on the first-team all
Cloverbelt Conference girls basketball squad. The Dan Erwin Memorial award,
presented to the most valuable player on the boys basketball team, was given to
co-winners Greg Morrow and Gregorich.
Pat Kaiser, Loyal's outstanding senior wrestler, received two awards. Kaiser was
presented the Merlin Gardner Scholastic Wrestling Award, which goes to the Loyal
wrestler who maintains the highest grade point average during the wrestling
season. He also received the Benny Weyer memorial Wrestling Award, which is
given to the wrestler with the best individual win-loss record.
