Shaw, Clara (18 October 1895 - 31 March 1977)

A cook for the Neillsville Schools for many years, Mrs. Clara Shaw of 135 East Fourth St., died suddenly March 31 at the age of 81. Funeral services were held Saturday at 1 p.m. from the United Church of Christ with the Rev. Gary Clark officiating. Burial was in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Shaw, daughter if William and Matilda Schultz Wedekind was born October 18, 1895, in the Town of Grant and received her education in local schools. Her marriage to George E. Shaw took place February 25, 1914 in Neillsville. The Shaws farmed in the Town of Levis for several years, then moved to Neillsville where she worked for many years at several different jobs. Mr. Shaw preceded his wife in death on April 2, 1973. Mrs. Shaw was a member of the United Church of Christ, of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and of Royal Neighbors of America Golden Link Camp No. 78.

Survivors include four children, Louis Shaw of Black River Falls, Clarence Shaw of Iron Ridge, Robert Shaw of Neillsville and Mrs. Richard (Edna) Lowe of Olathe, Ka.; one sister, Mrs. Alvina Riekkoff of Milwaukee; and 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Fred Wall, Wm. Meier, Ed Zank, Ole Aspen, Elroy Johnson and Charles Neff, Jr.

“The Old Rugged Cross” and “Beautiful Isle” were sung by Mrs. May Peters. Mrs. Beulah Zoutendam was the accompanist.
