Bartnik, Susan Marie (18 June 1977)

Susan Marie Bartnik became the bride of Vaughn L. Gokey in a 5 p.m. ceremony performed Saturday, June 18, at St. Mary’s Church in Colby by Fr. Frank Rushman. A reception was held afterward at the VFW Hall in Colby.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Bartnik of Colby, the bride was presented in marriage by her father. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Vane Gokey, also of Colby.

An empire style bridal gown of sheer organza and Venise lace, featuring a high neckline, long, full sleeves and skirt flowing into a chapel train, was chosen by the bride. A lace Camelot headpiece held her lace-edged, fingertip length veil. Completing the ensemble was a cascade bouquet of red sweetheart roses and starburst mums with trailing ivy.

The couple’s attendants were Cindy Brehm and Galen Hanne, both of Colby. Mrs. Rehm’s blue sheer organza floral print gown was styled with a low neckline and triple-tiered skirt. She held a nosegay of starburst mums and baby’s breath. Brothers of the couple, Scott Gokey and Dan Bartnik, served as ushers.

Steve Weber sang to a guitar accompaniment.

The new Mrs. Gokey will graduate from Colby High School in 1978. Her husband graduated from the same school in 1975 and from NCTI-Antigo in 1976. He is employed as an auto mechanic at a Spencer auto dealership.
