At a recent testimonial dinner two Owen-Withee faculty members were honored, as
the retirement of Theodore Kafka, after 28 years in the school system, was
recognized, as was the 20th years of teaching in the Owen-Withee system by
George Pauly.
Mr. Pauly, who heads the English department, came to the system in 1956. Since
that time he has, at one time or another, taught bookkeeping, math, typing, and
English. In addition to his varied teaching duties, he has served as advisor for
the yearbook, as well as the school paper. He, too, has been a successful
forensic coach. The past 10 years he has headed the English Department.
Prior to coming to Owen, Mr. Pauly lived in Chicago. There he received his
Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern University and his Master’s in
Business Administration at DePaul University. He then continued his education,
receiving his Master’s in Science and Teaching from UW-Eau Claire.
The night of the testimonial members of the Owen-Withee Educational Association
presented him with a certificate of merit.
