Boylan, James H. (22 Oct 1904 – 7 May 1976)
James H. Boylan, age 70, a resident of the Town of Longwood for many years, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield on May 7, 1976 of a lingering illness. He was born in Thorp, Wisconsin on October 22, 1904. At the age of five he came with his parents to Withee, where he had since made his home. He received his education in the Withee schools.
On June 2, 1936 he was united in marriage to the former Helen Herman at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church at Thorp, Wisconsin. To this union one son was born, James Jr., who survives. After the death of his father in 1931 James took over the farm and worked many long hours and developed it into the beautiful farm of today. When illness struck him in 1968 he was forced to sell his personal and semi-retire, but lived on the home place.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 11th at Holy Rosary Catholic Church at Owen, with Father Fliss, Father James Coke of Menomonie, and Father James MacMee of Stevens Point, officiating. Burial was made in Riverside Cemetery, Withee, in the family lot. He leaves to mourn, his wife Hele; son Jimmie, on sister, Marie Jensen of Chicago, one brother, Kenneth Boylan of Stevens Point.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gary.
Pall bearers were Leon Bruchert, Duane Miller, Art Petke, Clem Herman, Marion Herman, and Hermiss Schmidt of Thorp, Wisconsin.
Many out of town friends and relatives attended the funeral.
