The hand of sudden death grasped that of James R. Barager, owner and publisher of the Owen Enterprise, at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, June 27, 1976. The community was shocked when word was received Sunday evening of his untimely death. These past month have been his most active and healthy since his long hospitalization…liberal, understanding sincere and genuine. He was a thinker, reading many newspapers daily, and was known to call his friends, relatives, and family by pet nicknames.

J. R. Barager was born in Withee, Wisconsin, May 24, 1916 and at the immediate present time was one of the oldest business men in the … father, editing the publication. August 1944 he was united in marriage to Virginia Berg, and they were blessed with four children.

J. R. Barager, who column featuring “Glancing Around with J. R. Barager”, was an active member of the Wisconsin Press Association, member of the National Press….
