Liebzeit, Mavis A. (8 Feb 1935 – 27 Apr 2021)

Mavis Ann Liebzeit, 86, Greenwood, devoted wife and mother of three, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021. A celebration of life will be held from 11 a.m.- 4 p.m., on Saturday, June 5, at the Greenwood American Legion Hall on Main Street.

Mavis Jakobi was born on Feb 8, 1935, in Spencer, to John and Jane Jakobi. She graduated from Greenwood High School in 1953, then worked in Milwaukee for Allis Chalmers until 1960. On Sept. 30, 1961, Mavis married Roger Liebzeit. They raised three children -- Heidi, Gretchen and Peter. Mavis, AKA Chief, Mom, Grandma and Mavie Baby, enjoyed driving school bus for 34 years and was an avid Greenwood High School sports fan. She loved her Packers also. Mavis loved chickens and collected anything related to chickens. She was happy to travel anywhere with her husband of 59 years including bluegrass festivals, wineries, and Appalachia, just to name a few.

She is survived by her husband, Roger; her three children: Heidi (Bruce) Summers, Gretchen (Chris) Sebald, and Peter (Lisa) Liebzeit; seven grandchildren: Martha, Miles, Anna, Claire, Nicole, Jake and Sophia; and countless extended family members and friends.

Mavis was preceded in death by her father, John, and mother, Jane; and two brothers, Harry and Jerry.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Compassus Hospice and Palliative Care.
