GREENWOOD -- Scholarships and honors were awarded during the third annual seniors award banquet Monday evening at the Greenwood Community High School.

Band director Tennes Navrestad presented gold awards to Lynn Larson and Margaret Gosar. Those receiving certificates and blue ribbons were Kurt Humke, Larson, Allan Horn, Gretchen Liebzeit and Andy Bucheger. Andrea Grabara received a yellow ribbon and certificate. Gosar received the Lyre for two years in senior band work. The John Phillip Sousa award was presented to Larson and Humke received the director's award.

Vocal music director Gordon Wisniewski presented certificates to Bucheger and Humke. Gosar was selected for the National School Choral Award.

Yearbook awards were presented to Jeanette Abel, Gosar, Nancy Klinke, Bucheger and Leigh Lemar.

Tammy Timmler earned the senior science award and received the DeKalb award.

Senior officers in Future Business Leaders of America - Diane Susa, Therese Lindner, Paulette Fontaine and Shelia Horvat - were recognized. Students participating in the upcoming state competition in Green Bay are Liebzeit, Lindner, Fontaine, Susa and Becky Ortwig. The FBLA scholarship was presented to Andrea Briski.

Recognition was given to the High Quiz Bowl seniors, Bucheger and Gosar. Student council officers receiving recognition were Lindner, Tammy Timmler, and delegates Kathy Lindner, Bucheger and Gosar.

Those in the one-act play which went to state competition were recognized. They were Leigh Lemar, Bucheger, Humke and Gosar. Trophies were presented to Humke for best actor and Gosar for best actress.

Jolene Jasurda, Bucheger and Lemar received honors for their participation in the one-act play and Bucheger received a trophy for play-acting production.

Timmler was recipient of the Future Homemakers of America Scholarship.

Humke was recipient of the 4250 Masonic Scholarship and Therese Lindner received the Greenwood Lodge Ed Rossow Memorial scholarship.
