Sage, Gilbert A. (21 August 1917 – 30 December 1977) With Flag

Gilbert A. Sage, 60, formerly of Neillsville, died December 30 of an apparent heart attack in Poynette where he had been a resident of the Academy Lodge for the past eight years. Born August 21, 1917, in Augusta to James and Ethel Sage, he lived there and in Neillsville for a number of years and was educated in various schools in the state.

Sage served in the Army from 1940 to 1944 and worked at the Press during the time that the late Wells Harvey was in charge.

He is survived by his mother, brothers Donald of New York, Willis of Horicon, Charles of Slinger and Orval and Norman of Neillsville; sisters, Marion Wallace of St. Paul and Esther Roder of Milwaukee; and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father in 1961 and an infant sister.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m., January 4, in Poynette, with burial during a Military Service at the
Hillside Cemetery, Poynette. The flag was presented to the family by the veterans. It was brought to his mother in Neillsville, and she donated it to Memorial Home to display on the new flag pole. The funeral arrangements were made by Pflanz Funeral Home, Poynette.
