Stone, Irene M. (7 May 1907 – 23 January 1978)

Mrs. Irene M. Stone, 70, Neillsville, passed away suddenly at her home on Monday. Born May 7, 1907, to Iner Voldsness and Martha Mattson in Trempealeau County, she was also educated there. She worked in Mondovi for several years before moving to Neillsville after her marriage to Curtis A. Stone on April 26, 1929.

She worked for Auto Test Corp of Neillsville for several years and for the William Gallagher’s for 17 years. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

She is survived by two children, Ruby Stone of Neillsville and Mrs. Frank (Maxine) Fabian of Greenwood; three sisters, Mrs. Cora Zenger of Mondovi, Mrs. William (Florence) Schroeder of Blair and Mrs. Joe (Lylah) Olson of Strum; four brothers, Leonard, Wallace and Randall Voldsness, all of Eleva, and Spencer of Eau Claire; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and one sister.

Funeral services were held January 26 for Mrs. Irene Stone, 70, who died January 23, from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Neillsville. The Rev. Norman W. Lindloff, of St. John’s, officiated at the afternoon service with burial made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers for the service were Edgar Tews, Albert Marks, Donald Marg, Warren Medicke, William Gallagher and Kenneth Karnitz.

“The Lord’s My Shepherd’ and “I’m But a Stranger Here” were sung by Beth Tess, accompanied by Paul Tess.
