Lato, Walter (18 August 1933 – 20 May 2021)

Walter Lato, age 87, of Granton, died Thursday, May 20, 2021’ at his residence on Robin Avenue.

Walter was born on June 22, 1933, the son of Walter and Katherine (Rogus) Lato in Thorp. In his late teens he moved to Illinois where he married preceded wife, Mary, mother of children, bought a gas station and learned mechanics.

After many years, Walter moved to Cornell, and in 2000 he moved to the Granton area to be with his son. He was known for the mustard that he made from scratch and sold in the area. He enjoyed fishing and playing poker with his brothers and friends all of his life.

He is survived by one brother, George (Twyla) and two sisters, Amy and Genevieve (Robert), a sister-in-law, Rita, six children, Georgeann (William), Geraldine (Samuel), Jolene (Joseph), Jacquelyn (Gary), Jennifer and Harold Lato, 22 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Greg, two brothers, Edward and Leon.
