Gabriel, Frank J. (1 Oct 1903 – 5 Jan 1972)

Funeral services were held Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, North St. Paul, Minn., for Frank J. Gabriel, 69, a former resident of Colby and Dorchester. He died Wednesday at a hospital in North St. Paul, where he had been a patient about 10 days. The Rev. Albert Byrne officiated and interment was made in National Cemetery at Fort Snelling.

Frank Gabriel was born October 1, 1903 in German and came to this country as a small boy. He attended school in Colby and later moved with his mother Dorchester, and resided here until he entered the U.S. Army in October 1922 at Fort Snelling. He served with the armed forces about 32 years, and upon retirement from the Army, eh and his family lived in North St. Paul. He was employed at First National Bank in St. Paul.

Survivors, besides his widow, Rena, are three sons, Thomas and Paul at home, and James in the U.S. Army at Fort Hood, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Frank (Anna) Stoiber, Dorchester; Mrs. Rose Scott, Santa Cruz, California, and Mrs. Duane (Agnes) Shrout, Watersmeet, Michigan; two brothers, Joseph Gabriel, Fort Atkinson, and August Gabriel, San Diego, California.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Those from Dorchester who attended the funeral at North St. Paul Friday were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stoiber, Mrs. Norman Danen, Mrs. Cyril Decker, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Stoiber, Robert Stoiber, Mrs. Clarence Stoiber, Mrs. Dennis Graham and Mrs. Sophie Dessl.
