Rand, Mabel (6 April 1895 - 31 December 1978)

A long-time Chili area farm-wife, Mrs. Mabel Rand, 83, died in her Northbrook, Ill. home on Sunday, December 31. Mrs. Rand, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gottlieb Bayer, was born on April 6, 1895, in Albert Lea, Minn. After receiving her education in that area, she moved with her parents to Ill. On August 25, 1911, she married Peter A. Rand in Ill. The couple famed in Illinois before moving to the Chili area in 1923, retiring to Neillsville in 1947. This past year, she lived with a daughter in Northbrook, Ill.

Surviving her is one son, Milton, Chili, one daughter, Mrs. Steven (Laura) Kapicak, Northbrook, Ill., two sisters, Mrs. Maude Burdett of Texas and Mrs. Elizabeth Wimpleberg of Elgin, Ill., two brothers, George Bayer of Evergreen Park, Ill. and William Bayer of Riverdale, Ill., twelve grandchildren and Twelve great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was her husband, May 7, 1978, one daughter, Harriet: two sisters: and three brothers.

Funeral services were scheduled for this Friday, January 5, at 1:30 p.m. from Calvary Lutheran Church in Neillsville, with the Rev. Paul Forde officiating, and burial is to be mad in the Yolo Cemetery, Chili. The body was to lie in state at the Gesche Funeral home on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday until noon and then at the church for one hour prior to services.
