Schraufnagel, Emil (22 Apr 1911 – 30 Apr 1972)

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Abbotsford, for Emil Schraufnagel, 61, Abbotsford, who died Sunday night at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Death was due to cancer.

Pallbearers were Clarence Dolan, Steve Bezak, Bud Nelson, Don Schauer, Art Weideman and George Vetter. The Rev. Emil Hodnik officiated, with burial in the Abbotsford Cemetery.

Mr. Schraufnagel, who had operated a farm west of Abbotsford since 1951, was born April 22, 1911 in Colby. He married August 23, 1939 in Sanborn to Louis Miller, who survives.

Mr. Schraufnagel received his education in Riverside. He lived in Marengo, where he was employed by the Schraufnagel Lumber Company. He was also a farm manager for the A. M. Fox Company of Mason.

He was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Survivors, besides his wife, include two daughters, Mrs. James (Joyce) Koelbl, La Crosse, Mrs. Pat (Deborah) Ruesch, Stetsonville; two sons, Harland and Gale, both of Abbotsford.

He is also survived by five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Floyd (Mary) Treankler, Abbotsford, Miss Martha Schraufnagel, Chicago; three brothers, Cletus and Alphonse, both of Colby, and Arthur of Neillsville.
