Langfeldt, Daniel J. (29 Aug 1946 - 24 Jun 2021)

Daniel J. Langfeldt was born to Max and Frances (nee Reuth) Langfeldt on Aug. 29, 1946, in Loyal. After 74 years, Dan departed to be with our Heavenly Father on Thursday, June 24, 2021, surrounded by his loving wife and his children.

Dan began working for his father’s business, Max Langfeldt and Sons Construction, while attending Loyal High School. Dan enlisted in the Army National Guard Reserves, Red Arrow Division, where he served for six years before being honorably discharged with a rank of 2nd lieutenant. Dan received his associate’s degree from North Central Technical Institute in 1967, and later that year he married Karlene and remained her soul mate throughout his life. Dan started his business career with Herberger’s as an assistant manager. He then opened Dan’s Our Own Hardware as well as a plumbing and heating shop. Both he and Karlene then operated Electronic Echo Arcade prior to spending 35 years in the insurance industry, beginning as an agent and ending as the director of sales and recruiting. Dan was a member of many clubs and associations including the Knights of Columbus Third and Fourth Degree, Elks Club, and LUTCF. He was a Green Bay Packer enthusiast who loved to play cards with family and friends. Tinkering with clocks, antiques, and wood projects were a few of his hobbies.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Karlene Langfeldt; his children: Christopher (Kelli) Langfeldt, Jennifer (Jason) Leibin, and Bryan (Nicki) Langfeldt; his grandchildren: Nicholas (Kylie), Joshua, Donovan, Aidan, John Daniel and Jameson; a great-grandchild, Russell; his sisters: Lois Wirkus, Joann Oestreich and Bonnie Bender; and many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Diane Langfeldt and Helen Polasek; four brothers: Robert, Steven, Herbert, and Alan Langfeldt; a sister-in-law, Darlene; two brothers-in-law: Donald Oestreich and Thomas Wirkus; and other family and close friends.

His jovial laugh and life advice will live on forever in our hearts and memories. A quote from his son: “Many will remember him, but few will forget him.”
