NHS Class of 1923 (55th Reunion – 8 July 1978)

The fifth reunion of the Neillsville High School Class of 1923, in celebration of its fifty-fifth year after graduation, took place Saturday evening, July 8, at the Silver Dome Supper Club. Jerome Kopecky of Milwaukee acted as master of ceremonies. Committee members were, Irma (Ackerman) Sollberger, Mary (Botnen) Counsell, Myrtle (Hanson) Mattson and Jerome Kopecky.

Thirty-two persons were in attendance including 17 class members, with Beatrice (Obrien) Sischo of Oregon coming the greatest distance.

Invocation was given by Emil F. Pease of Janesville and the gathering was served a family style dinner. A short program was presented which included Mary (Botnen) Counsell who gave a memorial in honor of 21 deceased members. From a class of 59 graduates, 38 are still living. Irma (Ackerman) Sollberger presented a reading and then each member was asked to make a few comments about anything they wished to speak about, class memories, present life, etc. The remainder of the evening was spent renewing acquaintances and visiting.

Class members attending were Irma (Ackerman) Sollberger, Mary (Botnen) Counsell, George Bramble, Irene (Crockett) Opelt, Leona (Farning) Hughes, Lillian (Gangler) Hart, Myrtle (Hanson) Mattson, Leona (Hizer) Zimbauer, Jerome Kopecky, Rose (Marx) Krantz, Beatrice (Obrien) Sischo, Emil F. Pease, Kenneth Ruddock, Eva (Schulz) Quinlan, Fred Timmler, Forest Thompson, and Helen (Weaver) Haselow.
