Schauer, Willard E. (1 September 1929 – 23 July 2021) With Flag

Willard E. Schauer, age 91 of Abbotsford, passed away Friday, July 23, 2021, at the Abbotsford Health Care Center, surrounded by his loving family.

Willard was born on September 1, 1929, the son of Oscar and Martha (Hannie) Schauer in Owen. He graduated from Abbotsford High School in 1948. Willard served in the U. S. Army from 1952-54, stationed in Korea and Japan. On July 2, 1955, he was united in marriage to Patricia Zahorka at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Milan. Willard was a dairy farmer and worked for Berg Manufacturing for 18 years.

Willard enjoyed fishing, playing cards, bird watching and watching the Packers. He also loved to help on the farm. Most importantly, Willard loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Willard is survived by his wife of 66 years, Patricia; four children: Joel Schauer of Abbotsford and his children, Kimberly and Daniel; Karen (Lampros) Petanitis of Eau Claire and their children, Lai, Andreas, Athena and Niko; Betty (Ray) Baumgartner of Athens and their children, Ann (Andy) Thurs and their son, Evan; Jessica (Nick) Kelley and their sons, William and Callum; Gena (Chad) Heeg and their sons, Trey and Levi; and Brian (Daniella) Schauer of Dorchester and their sons, Brett and Brendan. He is further survived by his sister-in-law, Loretta Martin of Watertown, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his three siblings: Frances Gosse, Donald Schauer and Ruth Bunkelman.

A Private family service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. Rev. Mark Krueger will officiate. Interment will be held at Abbotsford Public Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Colby VFW Post #2227. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.
