Very Reverend Anthony B. Matla died Monday, March 12, 1973 of a heart attack. He taught Polish Culture school here in Thorp.

Vespers service will be at Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

The funeral will be Friday at Mosinee, Wisconsin, in Our Savior’s Polish National Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m.

The Investure of the Very Rev. Anthony B. Matla, Pastor of Our Savior’s National Catholic Church was to take place Sunday, March 25, 1973 at 4:30 p.m. in Mosinee. He was appointed Senior Priest or Dean of the Northwest Seniorate of the National Polish Catholic Church by the Bp. Ordinary of the Western Diocese. The parishes of the Northwest Seniorate consist of 11 parishes and missions in northern Wisconsin and Minnesota.

The Very Rev. A. Matla was born January 13, 1912, the son of Joseph and Lucy nee Czuba, in Bethlehem Pennsylvania.

In the past two years of his pastorate in Mosinee, he had become involved in teaching of the Polish Language at the Mosinee High School, a beginners class and an advanced class, and a similar class in Thorp.
