Zickert, Carol Lois (16 September 1947 – 9 September 2021)

Carol Lois King Zickert, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on Sept. 9, 2021, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, following a short battle from Covid complications.

Carol was born Sept. 16, 1947, to Elgar and Hilda (Dollase) King. She was the 7th of 8 children. Carol was a devoted mother, proud grandmother, loving wife and dedicated friend. Carol enjoyed spending time with her family (especially her grandchildren) and friends. She loved bowling, attending dinner theaters, spa days, sitting in her pergola, playing sudoku and of course her famous Easter egg tree. The grandchildren will never forget the 700-800 plastic Easter egg hunts
grandma did for them. She was the heart of the family and will be missed dearly. Anyone that crossed Carols path easily became a life-long friend. She was so kind, giving, always smiling, socializing and was compassionate by nature. She had a deep love for her family and friends.

Carol worked as a waitress at the Wildcat Inn for 25 years and at the IGA deli for 28 years, making the best sandwiches. She enjoyed working with people and made so many friends over the years. She was united in marriage to Gordon Zickert on April 8th,1967 (54 years) at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Neillsville.

She is survived by her husband Gordon Zickert; her son Todd Zickert (Dawn), daughter Michelle Kranz (Joe), stepson Kevin Zickert (Judy) all of Neillsville; her grandchildren Derek Zickert of Oshkosh, Bekkah Zickert of Denver, Alycia Zickert of Stevens Point, Vanessa Zickert of Winona, Lane Kranz and Tye Kranz of Neillsville; her brothers William “Bill” King of Berlin, Maynard “Bautch” (Shirley) King and Donald “Duke” (Marilyn) King of Neillsville; her bother-in-law Dean (Ann) Zickert and her sister-in-law Mary Ann Zickert both of Neillsville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Janice King Armstrong, brothers Harry King, Melvin King and Eugene King, brother-in-law’s Ronnell Zickert, Ivan Zickert, and nephew, Jerry King, sisters-in-law Janet King and Esther King.

Funeral services for Carol will be held on Sept. 18, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Neillsville. Pastor Chad Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, September 17th at Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday at Calvary Lutheran Church.
