Haberl, Margaret L. (25 December 1888 – 10 June 1979)

A resident of the Neillsville Memorial Home for the past 18 months, Margaret L. Haberl, 90 passed away in Memorial Hospital on Sunday afternoon, June 10. Funeral services were to be held Wednesday afternoon, June 13, from the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville with burial in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Rev. William Noble of the United Methodist Church was to officiate.

Mrs. Haberl was born December 25, 1888, in Willow Springs, Mo., to John and Sarah (Clark) Boofer. As a small child she moved with her parents to Iowa, where she received her education. In 1903, she married Roy Shultz in Union, Ia., ceremonies. The couple moved to the Neillsville area in 1927 and farmed until his death in 1936. In 1936, she married Fred Haberl in Black River Falls and the couple lived in the Merrillan area for several years and then to Neillsville.

The deceased is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Harold (Thelma) Boan of Nora springs, Ia, Mrs. Bert (Mildred) Field of Rudd, Ia., Mrs. Roland (Lois) Haines of Ishpeming, Mi., Mrs. Lee (Elsie) Kapfer of Neillsville and Mrs. Harley (Margaret) Hanby of Black River Falls; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Glenn (Eva) Lezotte of Loyal, one sister, Mrs. Del Wilschulz, Des Moines, Ia., 28 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death besides her two husbands, the latter who died in 1961, were one son, Claude, two sisters, Mamie and Elizabeth, two brothers, William and Wesley, and three grandchildren.

Haberl, Margaret L. (25 December 1888 – 10 June 1979)

Funeral services were held June 13 for Margaret L. Haberl, 90, who passed away three days earlier in Neillsville. With the Gesche Funeral Home in charge of arrangements and the site for the services, the Rev. William Noble of the United Methodist Church officiated, with burial made in Neillsville City Cemetery.

“In The Garden” and “Beautiful Isle” were the vocal selections offered by Mae Peters, accompanied by Vanita Volkert. Serving as pallbearers were Wilbert, Bobby, Richard and Michael Kapfer, Dennis Field and David Schultz.

Attending services were those from Chicago and Rockford, Ill.; Ishpeming, Mi.; Story City, Rudd, Nora Springs and Charles City, Iowa; and from the Wisconsin communities of Fond du Lac, West Bend, Kewaskum, Black River Falls, Marshfield, Madison, Stoughton, Loyal, Granton and Janesville and from Cheyenne, Wyo.
