Town of Washburn News: Mrs. William Seltrecht, 77, the former Gladys Searls of White Creek and formerly of the Town of Washburn, passed away Sunday, June 3, at a Mauston hospital. Funeral services were held at a Friendship funeral home, Thursday p.m.

Seltrecht, Gladys M. (15 Feb 1912 – 3 Jun 1979)

Mrs. Gladys Marie Seltrecht, age 67, Route 2, Box 159, Wisconsin Dells, died at Hess Memorial Hospital in Mauston on Sunday, June 3, 1979 of an apparent heart attack. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 1979 at Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship. The Rev. Larry Hauser officiated.

Gladys Marie Seltrecht was born February 15, 1912 in Granton to James and Julia Searls. She lived in the White Creek area for about 12 years. She was married to William Seltrecht in Neillsville, on February 26, 1929. She was a member of the Republican League of Women Voters, a 4-H leader in Whtie Creek, and a former member of the Eastern Ladies Aid Society.

Survivors include her husband William, Wisconsin Dells; four sons, William of Mosinee; John of West Bend; Clifford of West Bend, and Delbert of Sheboygan; two daughters, Audrey Vorpahl of Sun Prairie, and Darlene Brace of Granton; 34 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Searls of Granton and Herbert Searls of Washington, and five sisters, Ms. Minnie Searls, Neillsville; Leona Grand, Milwaukee; Inger Free, Loyal; Alice Richert, Greenwood, and Bertha Mattson, Cable.

The pallbearers were all grandsons.

Rosebery’s Funeral Home, Friendship, was in charge of arrangements.

Burial was in White Creek Cemetery.
