Granton FFA Awards (1979)

A year of hard work and study paid off this past week for members of the Granton FFA as they returned from their annual state convention with a host of awards.

Most prized was their ranking of eighth out of 276 chapters in the state for the program of work they accomplished this year. “This is a prestigious award since it is an evaluation of the overall program conducted by the FFA during the year,” said Tom Hasz, FFA president.

Granton will now enter competition in November at the Kansas City Nation Convention.

The group also received an award for being a “3-Star” chapter, which denotes a superior rating in safety, leadership and community activities. Nanette Daleiden, chapter vice-president, received the award at an honors breakfast.

The chapter also received a state plaque for its work in (BOAC) Building Our American communities, which included building two new picnic tables and donating them to the community park and revising and reprinting a community brochure.
