The 22nd Annual National Future Business Leaders of America Conference was held
in Washington, D.C. at the Sheraton Park Hotel. Thirteen members represent the
Thorp Chapter at this event. At this conference the Thorp Chapter received the
Gold Seal Award of Merit and received 2nd place for Installing the Greatest
Number of New Chapters.
The Gold Seal Award was given to those chapters who have contributed to a better
understanding of business through activity programs and projects and conducts
their business in a commendable manner. There were less than 15 of these awards
given to over 80 chapters in Wisconsin.
There were over 2,000 students from 46 states attending the 3-day convention in
Washington. There were various business skills contests, campaigning for
National Office and Leadership Seminars. The convention was concluded with a
3-hour tour of Washington.
Members from the Thorp Chapter that attended were: Jill Anderson, Nancy Osowski,
Diane Ebben, Nancy Maslowski, Karen Palmer, Chris Nolechek, Elizabeth Wilhelm,
Ann Paff, Linda Abramowicz, Lori Zurakowski, Barbara Mertens, Marlene Serocki,
and Marilyn Gulcynski. They traveled with their advisor, Mr. Daryl Braatz.
