Ziegler, Augusta P. (1 August 1883 - 19 June 1979)

Funeral services for Augusta P. Ziegler, 95, were held Friday afternoon, June 22, from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville. The Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiated, and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Gesche Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ziegler, a resident of Crosby, Mn., for the past two years, passed away June 19 in the Cuyuna Range District Hospital, Crosby. She was born on August 1, 1883, in Germany to Ernest and Pauline (Weber) Ratsch. At twelve years of age, she moved with her parents to Richland Center. Shortly after that, the family moved to Clark County where she finished her education.

On November 20, 1905, in Neillsville, she married Theodore Ziegler. The couple then farmed in the Town of Seif for 48 years before retiring and moving to Neillsville in 1853 1953. She resided in that community until two years ago when she moved to Minnesota to live with her daughters.

Mrs. Ziegler is survived by three sons, Alvin of Neillsville, Harold of Benson, Minnesota, and Clarence of Menomonee Falls; three daughters, Mrs. Fred (Alvina) Babe and Mrs. Fred (Anita) Hofmann of Bruce; Two sisters, Mrs. Anna Comelson and Mrs. Louise Wiltgen, both of Westfield, N.Y.; seventeen grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1966, one brother, Arthur, and three sisters, Martha, Emma and Ida.

“I’m But A Stranger Here” and “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” were the musical selections by Paul Tess and Kathy Quast.

James Ziegler, Mark Sanderson, Richard Babbe, Robert Ziegler, William Hofmann, Jr., and Kevin Ziegler were pallbearers.

Those attending the services from out of the area included Mr./Mrs. Fred Babbe, Mrs. Fred Hofmann, Crosby, Mn.; Lillian Hofmann, Bruce; Mr./Mrs. Harold Ziegler, Benson, Mn.; Mr./Mrs. Clarence Ziegler, Menomonee Falls; Kevin Ziegler, Madison; Mr./Mrs. Dennie Ziegler, Mr./Mrs. Bill Hoffman & family and Arlene and Randall Ziegler, Chicago; Sena Ziegler, Milwaukee; Tina Hanchman, Mr./Mrs. Danny Ziegler & Tim & Bob Ziegler, of Bensen, Mn.; and Richard Babbe and Nancy Fahrett, both of Minneapolis.

Also, were Everett Babbe, Chatsworth, Cal.; Mr./Mrs. Frank Nichols, Palisade, N.M.; Mr./Mrs. Jerald Sanderson & family, Crosby, Mn.; Virginia and Jean Ziegler and Mr./Mrs. Gilbert Stenl, Marshfield; Mr./Mrs. Art Ziegler, Marion; Ray Parker, Black River Falls; Mr./Mrs. Frank Wright, Chicago; Mr./Mrs. Gary Ziegler, Milwaukee; and many friends from Greenwood, Granton, Neillsville and Willard.
