Tews, Olga (20 September 1883 – 6 August 1979)

A former Town of Pine Valley farmwife, Mrs. Olga J. Tews, 95, passed away in the Neillsville Memorial Hospital on Monday, August 5.

Born on September 20, 1883, in Germany to William and Amelia Oehlke, she came with a young girl to the United States with her parents. The family settle in the Princeton area and Olga received her education there. On February 16, 1905, she married Charles Tews in Princeton ceremonies. Four years later, the couple moved to the Town of Pine Valley in Clark County, farming there until retirement. She was a member of St. John’s congregation and the ladies’ aid. For the past three years, Mrs. Tews had been a resident of the Neillsville Memorial Home.

Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. John (Nina) Koss of Milwaukee and Mrs. Velda Kalsow of Neillsville, one son, Edgar of Neillsville, three sisters, Mrs. Hannah Luedke, of Neshkoro, Rose Oehlke of Milwaukee and Edna Ebehay of Racine, one brother Emil Oehlke of Exeland, fifteen grandchildren, Nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. Preceding her in death was her husband in 1964, one son Arthur, and one daughter, Edna Beyer.

Funeral services were to be held this Thursday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiating, with burial to be made in the Neillsville city Cemetery. The Gesche Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Tews, Olga J. (20 September 1883 - 6 August 1979)

Mrs. Olga J. Tews, 95, a longtime resident of the Neillsville area was buried in the Neillsville City Cemetery on August 9 after services from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiating. “The Lord Is My Shepherd” and “I’m But a Stranger Here” were the musical selections offered by Paul and Beth Tess.

Pallbearers were Scott and Paul Tews, Gordon Bever, Mel Marg, John Koss and Tim Wold. The Gesche Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
