Lehman, Joan Marie (11 August 1979)

Joan Marie Lehman and Lt. David Alan Hoopengardner were married August 11 in Ft. Myer’s Post
Chapel, Arlington, Va. The bride is the daugher of Col. (Ret.) and Mrs. Raimon W. Lehman of Fairfax, Va. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Hoopengardner, Denton, Mi.

Joan has many relatives in the Granton area, including her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Lehman and Mrs. Lloyd Spry, and an aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Spry.

With Chaplain Kermit Johnson officiating, the bride was attended by Mrs. Kathryn Jonas, matron of honor, Arnold, Md., a sister of the bride; Mrs. Rae Jean Carruth, Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., a sister of the bride; Joan Furman, Warrenton, Va; Mrs. Diana McCurdy, Bridgewater, Va; and Cherilyn Carruth, flower girl, Ft. Walton Beach, niece of the bride.

The groom’s attendants were David Towers, bestman, Denton, Md.; Raimon Lehman, usher, Tempe, Az., brother of the bride, David Lehman, Fairfax, Va., brother of the bride; Gary Hoopengardner, Joppa, Md, brother of the groom; Tony Gianninoto, Denton; and Andrew Hoopengardner, ringbearer, Atlanta, G., nephew of the groom.

A reception was held at Ft. Myer’s Officers Club in Arlington. After a honeymoon to St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands, the couple made their home in Schweinfurt, West Germany.

The bride is a graduate of Madison College, Harrisonburg, Va., and the groom is a graduate of West Point, New York.
