Mortenson, Ragnar N.(28 October 1898 - ? 1979)

Funeral services were held Tuesday evening from Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville for Ragnar N. Mortenson, 80. The Rev. Gary Clark of the Neillsville United Church of Christ officiated.

Mortenson who had been a resident of the Neillsville Memorial Home for the past seven years, was to be cremated and interment was to be made in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.

Mr. Mortenson was born on October 28, 1898, in Chicago to Nels and Amelia (Berg) Mortenson. After receiving his education in that city, he worked for International Harvester as an electrician for several years before starting his own business in Chicago. During that time, September 30, 1922, he married Emily Kalas in Chicago ceremonies.

The family moved to the Shortville rea in 1932, where he owned and operated the Shortville Store for 40 years, retiring in 1972. At that time he became a resident of Memorial Home.

Surviving him, besides his wife, is one son, Robert of Neillsville; one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Gladys) Thomson, Elmhorst, Ill.; one brother, Martin, Chicago; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
