Burchell, Eleanor (24 Jan 1900 – Oct 1979)

Eleanor Burchell, 79, passed away Thursday evening, September 28, in Neillsville Memorial Hospital. Eleanor DeLong married John Burchell on December 6, 1922, in Humbird. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1972.

Surviving her are two sons, Clarence of Melbourne, Fla., and Merle of Rockford, Ill.; Two Scott’s brothers, who made their home with Burchell’s for many years; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, June 4, 1979, and one son.

Funeral services for the Humbird resident were held Tuesday, October 2, from the Jensen Funeral Home, Hixton, with burial made in the Town of Mentor Cemetery. Special services were held the preceding evening, hosted by the Merrillan American Legion Auxiliary.

Serving as pallbearers were Dick Maffett, Art Zerbel, Kenneth Nelson, Dewitt Van Kirk, Fred Rupnow and Warren Van Kirk. Following the interment, the Humbird Community Club served lunch to relatives and friends at the community hall.
