Haigh, Nancy (12 April 1922 – 28 October 1979)

A Neillsville High School teacher, Mrs. Owen (Nancy) Haigh, passed away in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, Sunday, October 28, after a lengthy out with cancer. Mrs. Haigh, 57, was to be buried in the city cemetery Wednesday afternoon following services from the Neillsville United Methodist Church with the Rev. William Noble officiating. The Gesche Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

The deceased was born on April 12, 1922, in Lake Hallie to Jerome and Louisa (Nelson) Van Dreser. After receiving her education in Town of Hallie Schools, she attended and graduated from UW-Eau Claire, gaining both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English education. On June 28, 1947, she married Owen C. Haigh in Lake Hallie ceremonies.

Mrs. Haigh taught in the Greenwood, Trempealeau, Watertown, Fall Creek, Fairchild and Neillsville school systems. (Her husband is still an art teacher in Neillsville High School. She was a member of the Neillsville United Methodist Church, the congregation’s women’s club, the Order of the Eastern Star (Fairchild) and the Neillsville and National Education Associations.

Surviving her besides her husband is one son, Clark, Minneapolis, Minn.; her mother, Mrs. Louisa Van Dreser, Neillsville; and two brothers, Dr. Roy Van Dreser of Stevens Point and Robert Van Dreser of Lombard, Ill. She was preceded in death by her father.
