Strigel, Agnes S. (28 July 1923 – 25 October 2021)

Agnes S. Strigel, 98, passed away peacefully, with family at her side on Monday, October 25, 2021, at Stoney River Assisted Living, Marshfield.

Agnes was born on July 28, 1923, in the Town of Sherman, Clark County, the daughter of Ed and Amelia (Johnson) Hendrickson. She attended Clovernook School for grades 1 – 8 and Auburndale High School, graduating in 1941. Before her marriage she worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory in Marshfield. On January 24, 1944, she married Frederick “Fritz” Strigel at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Marshfield. After their marriage she was a homemaker and lived and farmed in the Auburndale area until moving to the village of Auburndale in 1984. Fritz died on April 9, 2003. In 2005 she moved to the Park View Apartments in Marshfield.

She enjoyed gardening, caring for flowers, baking, watching the Brewers, Packers and Badgers, and playing Sheepshead and Smear with family and friends. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Auburndale and was a member of the P.C.C.W. for over 50 years.

Agnes is survived by a son, Gene (Judy) Strigel, Arpin, and their children, Steve (Laura) Strigel, Connie (Todd) Folz and their children Elizabeth, Alexis and Matthew, Missy (Dan) Kloos and their children, Dustin, Lily, Isaac and Mason, Scott (Mary) Strigel and their son, Joseph; and daughters, Ellen (Paul) Kolb, Stratford, and their children, Mark (AnnMarie) Kolb, Emily, Levi, and Selma, Tom Kolb and his son, Matthew, Cindi (CJ) Rutten and their children, Abram, Stella, and Miles; Delores (Gene) Huser, Auburndale, and their son Mike (Denise) Huser and their daughters, Claire, Mia and Emma; and a son-in-law, Don (Kathy) Peters, Pittsville, and his children, Renee (Denny) Sweere, and their children, Allison and Luke, and Jim (Chris) Peters and step great grandchildren, Nicole (Thomas) Barg and their sons, Elliot and Arlo, Scott Worlund and Skye (fiance – Reese Bakken) Klein. She is also survived by her sister, Myrthal Brown, a brother, Donald Hendrickson, sisters-in-law, Helga Hendrickson, Rita Wiesman and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Diane Peters on October 16, 2001, and siblings, Dora, Viola, Irene, Melvin, Arnie, Maynard, Alvera and Ellie.

A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Auburndale, with Rev. Murali Anand Rayappan officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery and Agnes’ six grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Stoney River Assisted Living for their love and compassion the past four years. A special thank you to Heartland Hospice Taiya and Jodi for the countless hours you gave her the past ten months.

Memorials may be designated to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
