Rath, Carl W. (1 May 1905 – 29 March 1980)

Carl W. Rath, 74, of Sarles, N.D., brother of Frieda Schwamb of Neillsville, passed away on Saturday, March 29, in a Cando, N.D., nursing home. Funeral services were held April 2 from the Sarles Lutheran Church.

Rath was born on May 1, 1905, in Richland Center to William and Flora (Demmer) Rath. At one year of age, he moved to the Town of Levis with his parents and he received his education there. He worked at several jobs, including operating a blacksmith shop and garage.

On September 25, 1934, Rath married Anna Wentz in Rugby, N.D., ceremonies. The couple farmed in the Sarles, N.D., area retiring in 1968. He is survived by his wife, eight children and three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Spaur of Albia, Ia., Mrs. Viola Phillips of Plymouth and Mrs. Frieda Schwamb, Neillsville.
