Monday, May 13, 1974 was the scene of the Thorp Girl Scouts Annual Court of Awards. The girls opened their ceremony with the posting of the flags. After reciting the Girl Scout Promise and singing “Oh Beautiful”, Mrs. Lillie Stokosa presented her Brownies their membership stars. The Brownies then entertained the parents with a song entitled My Fan”, while they fanned themselves with fans made at a previous meeting.

The second year Brownies, led by Mrs. Shirley Hempelman, “Flew Up” to the Junior Girl Scouts. They received their membership stars from Mrs. Hempelman, and then their Girl Scout Pin from Mrs. Karen Andruszkiewicz and Mrs. Shari Jacque.

The Junior Girl Scouts received their badges they have been working on all years. The third year Junior Girl Scouts received the highest badges a Junior Girl Scout can ear. The Sing of the Star and the Sing of the Arrow were presented to Julie Hoffman, Sue Voelker, Judy Hempelman and Ann Wifler. Charlene Hempelman, a Cadet, completed her work on the Sign of the Arrow.

These four girls were each asked questions about Girl Scouting. Upon answering them, they were welcomed into the Cadet troop by the present members and their assistant leader, Mrs. Barbara Hermann.

The girls had on display many of their projects. Coffee and donuts were served to end a very successful year.
