Thurs, Alma (23 May 1904-3 January 1984)

SPENCER- Mrs. August (Alma) Thurs, 79, of the Continental Manor Nursing Home in Abbotsford, formerly of Spencer, died Tuesday evening at the nursing home.

Services will be Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer. The Rev. William Ruhbusch will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the Rux Funeral Home, Spencer.

The former Alma Juedes was born May 23, 1904 in the Town of Hamburg, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry (Othilla Voight) Juedes, and received her education in school there. She was married to August Thurs May 26, 1923 in the Town of Hamburg. They farmed in the Unity area fo five years, and in the Spencer area for 20 years. They then moved into the Village of Spencer, where she lived until entering the nursing home. Her husband died August 7, 1969.

A member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and the Spencer Senior Citizens, Mrs. Thurs is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Clifford (Norene) Rinehart of Route 1, Colby; two sons, Kenneth Thurs of Janesville, and Roger Thurs of Sheboygan; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Erna Rinehart of Spencer, Mrs. Arthur (Belinda) Christian of Marathon, Mrs. Ted (Leotta) Dirks of Edgar and Mrs. Herman (Ruth) Kufahl of Wausau.

She was also predeceased by a son, a sister and a brother.
